Unlike the inhabitants of other fortified towns, Luxembourgers had not demanded the departure of the Prussian garrison. With the treaty of London of 11 May 1867 putting an end to the fortress, both the capital and the country faced an enormous challenge. What identity and what future could there be for a city with no port, no rich soil and no large demographic reservoir, and all this against the backdrop of a Franco-German war? The tour takes in the transformation of the fortress city into the national capital, the seat of political and economic power.
