Casemate 6: Multimedia room - interactive and rest area

In keeping with its mission to educate and provide documentation, the Musée Dräi Eechelen/Documentation Centre for the Fortress of Luxembourg (Centre de Documentation sur la Forteresse - CDF) has created an interactive space in a large casemate with access to the database and a rest area.
Two large touch screens can be used to discover the following animations, initially:

- the Siege of Luxembourg in 1684;
- the 1795 Blockade;
- the evolution of the Fortress;
- the Partitions of Luxembourg.

Other animations will be added as the project develops.

- Several categories of items can be viewed in more detail, thanks to powerful zoom functions: maps and plans, pictures, portraits, views.
- The historical photographs on display in Casemate 8 will also be included on these screens.

A desk with a computer is available for accessing the database that is being built:

 - high resolution digitised scans from our national and international partners, starting with the plans of the Fortress of Luxembourg kept at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin;
- hundreds of press cuttings tracking the project from the very start;
- the various stages of the Vauban Circuit.

This area will also have flat file cabinets containing plans and other documents, which can be viewed up close to discover certain parts of our collections in greater detail.
