Collect10ns 2012-2022

From 13 July until 12 March 2023

Happy Birthday! the M3E celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2022 in Kirchberg. What better occasion could there be to showcase some of the most iconic objects the M3E has acquired over the course of a decade that has been particularly rich in finds and donations. Visitors embarked on a voyage of discovery from Charles the Bold to a monstrance from the Marienthal monastery, taking in a marble sculpture of the King of Prussia, a spectacular Boch vase and even some stones with rosette motifs from one of the Fortress gates along the way. The exhibition sought to illustrate the hidden history behind these objects and their provenance. Tirelessly collected by some, passed down through generations by others, in some cases the property of old political families such as the MUNCHENs, the DE TORNACOs, the DE BLOCHAUSENs and the BECHs, these objects have one common denominator: the Fortress. An opportunity to (re-)discover these jewels of Luxembourg's heritage which, thanks to a kind donation, an extensive search or a simple stroke of luck, found their way to the museum and have been brought together in an original display to celebrate our tenth anniversary.
