The mission of the Fortress Documentationcentre (CDF) was established by Grand-Ducal regulation of 15 October 2004, and comprises the ongoing management of the Fortress Museum on the 'Dräi Eechelen' site and the showcasing of the documents and objects given to it.
Besides welcoming visitors and ensuring the day-to-day running and upkeep of the Musée Dräi Eechelen, the Centre organises the following activities:
- guided tours in several languages;
- temporary exhibitions, seminars and conferences;
- collaboration with the European Institute of Cultural Routes (Institut européen des itinéraires culturels), particularly in relation to a cross-border route between fortified sites;
- historical research in connection with the Fortress of Luxembourg and national identity;
